John C. McElhinny

John C. McElhinny, age 74, of Evans City, passed away on Friday morning, January 3, 2020 at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Twp.

Born on August 31, 1945, in Evans City, he was a son of the late Paul J. and Elizabeth Hutchinson McElhinny.

John was an independent construction contractor.

He was a member of St. Kilian Church in Cranberry Twp.

Surviving are a son, David McElhinny (Bonnie) of Mars, his grandsons, Sean and Adam, two sisters, Elizabeth “Betsy” Darling of Scotia, N.Y. and Patrice Hughes (William) of Seaford, DE, two brothers, Jerome McElhinny (Marilyn) and Zeno McElhinny (Becky), both of Evans City, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carole S. Cole McElhinny, who he married on April 19, 1969 and who died on November 18, 2019, and by brothers, Paul R., Samuel, Ronald “Bones”, and Daniel McElhinny, and sisters, Isabelle McElhinny, Nancy Bogan, and Zeruiah Moore.

Friends will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc. 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Kilian Church, 7076 Franklin Rd. Cranberry Twp., PA 16066 on Tuesday at 10:00 AM. Rev. Charles Bober, pastor, officiating. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum at Holy Savior Cemetery, Richland Twp. PA.
