Donald E. Vogel, age 86, of Mars, died Saturday afternoon, February 10, 2018, at Good Samaritan Hospice in Wexford.

Born in Warrendale, PA on June 21, 1931, he was the son of the late Vincent and Mary Harbison Vogel.

Don worked for over 30 years at Vogel Disposal, Inc. as a dispatcher and weighmaster.

He was a member and Past Master of John E. Mair Lodge #729, F. & A.M. and the Syria Shrine and Consistory. He was also a life member of the Mars Rod and Gun Club.

He served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.  He was a Life Member of the Mars American Legion and the Mars V.F.W. Post 7505.

He had been a member of St. Kilian Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Debra Vogel (Michael) of Las Vegas, Donna Steed (Vincent) of Cranberry Twp., and Diane Vogel of Mars, his grandchildren, Danielle Gundlach (Alan) of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Vincent Steed II of Phoenix, AZ., his great grandchildren, Logan and Luke Gundlach, two brothers, Edward Vogel (Margaret) and Richard Vogel (Bernie), both of Mars and nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, E. Eileen Johnson Vogel, who he married on March 8, 1952 and who died on April 12, 2014, by his twins, Dale and Gale and by a brother, Robert F. Vogel.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude for the outstanding support from friends and relatives, including a special thank you for the care and compassion of the Good Samaritan Hospice staff as they guided us through the past few weeks.

Friends will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc., 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home, with Rev. Mary Beth Carey, officiating. Burial will be in Mars Cemetery, Adams Twp., PA. Members of John E. Mair Lodge 729 F. & A.M. will conduct a Masonic Service on Thursday at 6:30 PM at the funeral home.
