Darl Jean Norris

Darl Jean Laib Norris, age 94, of Middlesex Twp., Valencia, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, November 26, 2017.

Born in Warren, Ohio on July 13, 1923, she was the daughter of the late David Russell and Neva Cossette Guthrie Laib.

Darl graduated from Avalon High School and Business Training School and worked at H.J. Heinz during W.W. II., where she took dictation for Heinz executives.

She married Wilmer G. Norris on March 18, 1949 and worked as a partner in business with her husband at the Norris Market and Nursery in Valencia. She continued to work as the secretary-treasurer into her eighties.  Wilmer died on August 4, 1992.

Darl served as the head of the Trustees, taught Sunday School and sang alto in the chancel choir at Glade Run Church for many years.  She also belonged to the South Butler County Women’s Club.

She enjoyed traveling, swimming, playing golf, bridge and 500.

Surviving are three sons, Robert G. Norris (Linda) and John R. Norris, both of Valencia, and Bryan J. Norris of Mars, her granddaughters, Kelly Jean Norris and Kimberly Norris, both of Pittsburgh, a step-daughter, Kay Norris Sinclair Koren (David) of Sarver and her children, Heather Sinclair Blystone and Sean Sinclair and Heather’s daughters, Alicia and Kayla Blystone. Two sisters, Wilma Baumann (Frank) of Allison Park and Edith Josephine Johnston of Washington, PA, a brother, Robert Laib (Anne) of Williamsburg, VA., and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Wilmer, she was preceded in death by her brother, James R. Laib.

Friends will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc., 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at the Glade Run Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Rd. Valencia, PA 16059, with Rev. Kelly Jean Norris, her granddaughter and Rev. Greg Wiest, her pastor, officiating. Please meet at the church.Burial will be in Glade Run Cemetery, Middlesex Twp. Memorials may be made to the Glade Run U.P. Church Deacon’s Fund.
