Daniel Black, Sr. Obituary

Daniel R. Black, Sr., age 87, of Mars, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born on June 7, 1931, in Dudley, PA, he was the son of the late Chester and Martha Hile Black.

Dan was a construction foreman and eventually started and ran his own business, Dan Black Excavating.

He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Mars V.F.W. Post 7505. He was also a volunteer fireman for many years.

Dan was a member of LifePointe Alliance Church in Mars, where he was heavily involved and donated a lot of his free time as a laborer.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and bird watching, He also loved his dogs, especially Yoda.

Surviving are his wife, Jerry Schneider Black, who he married on March 13, 1952; his children, Daniel (Michelle) Black, Jr. of Ohio, Molly Takach of Mars, and Guy (Lisa) Black of Mars; grandchildren, Sammy Woodward, Dane (Mari) Black, Lauren Black, Logan Black, Jake (Kristie) Takach, and Karly (Dylan) Takach; great-grandchildren, Jonah Takach, Liam and Ben Black. Also survived by his sisters, Jonalu Eberhart and Lois Cook, both of Albion PA.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Janet Booher.

A private memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family to help with the cost of Dan's medical expenses. Arrangements are under the direction of McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc., Mars, PA.
