A Lifelong Mars resident, John C. Hanovick, President and Supervisor of the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc., became associated with the funeral home in 1976 while in Mars High School, where he graduated in 1978. In 1982, he graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and became a licensed funeral director in 1983. After 27 years with the funeral home, he purchased it on January 1,2003.

He married the former Ann Rude on June 2, 1984. They have two daughters, Emily and Abby Hanovick. They are members of St. Kilian Roman Catholic Church in Mars. Ann works in the office at the funeral home and is responsible for the Video Tribute Program. She is Vice President of the Board of the Mars Cheerleading Boosters.  Emily and Abby both work at the funeral home.  Emily is attending Gannon University to study Elementary Education and Abby hopes to follow in her father’s footsteps and become a funeral director after high school.

John is active in many organizations in the Community.  He is a member and Treasurer of the Rich-Mar Rotary Club, where he is a Paul Harris Fellow.  He is President of the Board of Directors of Mars Housing at Penn-Mar Plaza, and a member of the Treesdale Country Club.  He is a Charter Member of Holy Sepulcher Knights of Columbus Council #10175.

He is a member and Past President of the Butler County Funeral Directors Association, the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association, and the National Funeral Directors Association.

A licensed Insurance Agent, he represents Columbian Life Insurance and National Guardian Life and is a Notary Public.  He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Mars Cemetery Association.

Lori A. Yanuzzi is the newest member of the staff.  She is a licensed Funeral Director and lives in Treesdale with her husband, Jeff.  She joined the staff in 2005.  She graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1993.  She and Jeff are members of the Treesdale Country Club, and attend the Mars Alliance Church.  She is an active member of ZONTA–a non-profit Womens Charitable Organization in Wexford.  They are the parents of Erin and Lauren and the grandparents of Dakota.

Kenneth L. Renfrew is the funeral director’s assistant and is a lifelong resident of Valencia, PA.  He has been with the funeral home since 1985.  He has three children, Laura, a student at Youngstown State University, and Sarah and Robert Renfrew, both in high school.  He is member of the Mars United Methodist Church, where he is a lay minister.
