Mario J. DeMelo, age 79, of Mars, Adams Twp., died unexpectedly on Sunday morning, July 3, 2016 at his home.

Born in Rio, Brazil on October 1, 1936, he was the son of Joao and Maria Joaquina DeMelo.

Mario had been a business owner and foreman.  He was a veteran of the Brazilian Army.

A member of St. Kilian Church, he loved going to Mass, being with his family, cruising and soccer.

Beloved husband of Julieta Lopes DeMelo, who he married on July 10, 1957, loving father of Maria Alves (Abilio) of Warrendale and Marilyn Kosuda (Richard, Jr.) of Mars, much loved grandfather of Abilio Alves, Jr., (Valerie), Michele Alves and Nicole Kosuda, great grandfather of Lorena Alves, brother of John DeMelo (Luiza), Lisinio “Lee” DeMelo (Deanna), Alice Soares, Elza DeMelo (Jose) and Teresa Carvalho (Francisco) all in New York, also nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Nelson DeMelo and a sister, Maria Alves.

Friends will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc. 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA on Thursday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  Mass of Christian Burial in St. Kilian Church, corner of Clark and Cherry Sts. Mars, PA on Friday at 10:00 AM. Fr. Charles Bober, pastor, officiating. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum at Holy Savior Cemetery, Richland Twp. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
