Lucy M. Blozen

Lucy M. Blozen, age 93, of Mars, died Sunday morning, September 18, 2016 at the VA Medical Center in Butler.

Born in Newark, N.J. on May 13, 1923, she was the daughter of the late William and Lucy Slomczyski Ackerman.

She had been a New York Parochial School Secretary and had served as a Sgt. in the Women’s Army Corp during W.W. II from 1943-46.

She had attended Holy Sepulcher Church in Glade Mills.

Surviving are a son, David J. Blozen (Janice) of Brooklyn, N.Y., two daughters, Susan DeRiso of Mars and Carol Gipson (James) of Lake George, N.Y., a close friend, Phyllis Grasser of Mars, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.  Also survived by four sisters, Rita Policastro of Toms River, N.J., Johanna Mele of Little Egg Harbor, N.J., Antoinette Craven of Keyport, N.J., and Patricia Uhrig of Newark, N.J., a brother, William Ackerman (Marion) of Iselin, N.J., and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Blozen, who she married on October 11, 1947 and who died on February 2, 2002 and by a brother, Gerald Ackerman and a sister, Anne Mastria.

Lucy will be taken to the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home in Toms River, New Jersey for services.
