John E. Fetzer, age 70, of Mars, died unexpectedly on Tuesday evening, January 10, 2017 at UPMC Passavant Hospital in Cranberry Twp.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA on July 26, 1946, he was the son of the late John and Virginia “Jean” Penney Fetzer.

John was the owner of Fetzer Environmental, a pollution control company.

He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and  John was a very active member and Past Commander and Board Member of the Mars V.F.W. Post 7505.  He also had served as the District Adjutant for the V.F.W.

He was a member of the Mars U.P. Church and the John E. Mair Lodge 729 F. & A.M. in Mars.

Surviving are his companion, Patricia Hawkins of Mars, a step-daughter, Diane Edward (Craig) of Valencia, three step-sons, Robert Kennedy (Nancy) of Mars, Dale Kennedy (Renee) of Valencia and Todd Radzyminski (Julie) of Wampum, 10 step grandchildren and 17 step great grandchildren, and a sister, Virginia Coffey of Beaver Falls.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maryann Arnold Fetzer, who he married on September 24, 1977 and who died on November 3, 2014.

Friends will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc. 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will be in Mars Cemetery, Adams Twp. Memorials may be made to the Mars V.F.W., P.O. Box 90, Mars, PA  16046.
