Donald passed away peacefully of natural causes at his home in his beloved Colorado on February 27, 2018.

Donald was born April 2nd, 1958 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Mars High School in 1976.

Donald enjoyed reading, music, attending live rock shows, his extended family & friends, all forms of technology, gardening, fitness, bicycling, nature, and running. One of his greatest loves was all things Sci-Fi/Horror/Fantasy. He was a huge fan of Star Trek, and all Science Fiction, notably Babylon 5. He was an engineer, Documentation Specialist, IT Specialist, Computer Tech, as well as being involved in several other industries.

Donald had literally thousands of books. He himself was an author. His love for music and books is unmatched. He has hundreds of t-shirts from bands he followed and saw live. He was a brilliant man with many talents. Donald became immediate friends with everyone he met. He had a personality that people were drawn to. He was incredibly intelligent, yet also very outgoing. He could strike up a conversation with anyone.

Donald absolutely adored his immediate and extended family as well as his large group of friends and colleagues. He loved traveling around to visit his loved ones.

He is survived by his mother Barbara Jean (Jones) MacKeown, his father Donald Herbert Kinney Sr. Siblings Kathleen Barbara (Jeff) Kier, Gregg Thomas Kinney, Brett David Kinney, Christopher James Kinney, Kevin John Kinney, Elizabeth Margaret (Tim) Mock. Donald’s close companion Joan Eto. Step-mother Connie (Lewis) Kinney and step-siblings Duane Kinney, Dawn Marie (Tom) Shaheen, Dean Lewis, Cathy (Jim) Weldon, and Michael MacKeown.

You will forever be in our hearts Don. We will all see you in the next chapter. We love you.

Friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Sunday, April 22nd, 2018 from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church of Perrysville 920 Perry Hwy.Pittsburgh, PA 15229 (412) 364-6626.  Memories will be shared in remembrance of Don.
