Deborah L. Schmidt, age 62, of Mars, died Tuesday, April 26, 2016, in LAS St. John Lutheran Care Center, in Mars.

Born in Pittsburgh, on August 5, 1953, she was the daughter of Bernard Joseph Demko, Sr. and the late Laverne Ann Gyton Demko.

She was a member of the Mars VFW Post 7505.  She loved her grandchildren, going to casinos and chocolate cake.

Deborah was a retired Nurses Aid, from Sun Rise Assisted Living, now Concordia of Cranberry.

In addition to her father of North Hills, she is survived by her significant other, David Barr, her former husband, Michael P. Schmidt, one daughter, Carrie Ohorodnyk and her husband John of Pulaski, PA,; one son Michael J. Schmidt and his wife Tara of Freedom, PA; a brother, David Demko of Mars,; a sister, Victoria Benson of Warren, PA, and two grandchildren, Jaxson James Schmidt and Reese Anastasia Ohorodnyk.

There will be no visitation.  Friends are invited to a celebration of Deborah’s life at the Mars VFW Post 7505, 331 Mars-Valencia Rd. Mars, PA  16046,on June 4, 2016 at 5:00 PM.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Mars VFW Post 7505, PO box 90 Mars, PA  16046.
