Christie Scott Obituary

Christie Carol Mackintosh Scott, age 75, formerly of New Brighton, PA, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, April 13, 2018, after a series of medical problems.

Born in Staten Island, NY, daughter of the late Donald F. and Mildred L. Mackintosh, she was raised in New York.

She attended Houghton College, NY, where she met her future husband, the late Milton Jay Scott.  They graduated from Houghton College in 1964 where Christie excelled on multiple sports teams.  Christie and Milton were married November 30, 1968, in Staten Island, NY.  They spent most of their married life in New Brighton, PA on a small farm where they raised their 4 children.  Christie taught elementary school first in Spring Valley, NY, and then in Plan 11, Aliquippa, PA.  While her children were young, she worked part time at other jobs, including, with Milt, renovating numerous homes in the area.  Christie worked most recently for many years as a caseworker at the Beaver County Office on Aging, the job she loved.

Christie impacted many lives over the years with her welcoming spirit, light-hearted wit, generosity, and genuine care for people.  Christie found joy in serving others, especially those who needed help the most.  She and Milton participated in numerous mission trips to various parts of Africa, many through Concordia Lutheran Ministries, where she and Milton served on the board and various committees.  She and Milt were faithful members of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Freedom, PA, and most recently of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Cabot, PA.

Whether Christie was teaching her children and grandchildren to play sports, working outdoors, singing in the church choir, cheering for the Steelers, or defeating a younger competitor at tennis or racquet ball, her energy and enthusiasm were infectious.  She loved the ocean and any outdoor activities, athletics of all kinds, travel, singing, and spending time with family.  She was known by her loved ones for her faith in God, fun-loving competitive nature, her sweet tooth, and taking pride in her family.

She will be missed greatly by her family including sons Greg (Geri) Scott of Southampton, NJ; Jon (Heather) Scott of Mars, PA; Doug (Melissa) Scott of New Castle, PA; daughter Becky (Andy) Maxwell of Flower Mound, TX; brothers Don (Dian) Mackintosh of Manassas, VA; Doug (Jenn) Mackintosh of South Boston, VA; and Rob (Anne) Mackintosh of Advance, NC; sister-in-law Doris Scott of Allendale, MI; niece, Tara (Cameron) Tucker of Wampum, PA; nieces Anna, Allison, Rachel, Leigh, and nephew Brian; grandchildren, Sandra, Lucy, Abigail, Nolan, Adam, Marie, Luke, Tyler, and Katelyn, grandnephews Hayden and Jack; and by many dear friends.

Friends will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc., 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA 16046 on Monday from 4-7 PM.  Funeral service will be at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 330 Hannahstown Rd, Cabot, PA 16023 on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 1:00 PM.  Please meet at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Concordia Lutheran Ministries, 134 Marwood Rd, Cabot, PA 16023 or to Beaver County Christian School, Beaver Falls, PA 15010.  Directions and condolences are available at www.mcdonald-aeberli.com.
